Snow Day Sewing

Snow in Georgia.  How weird is that?  My kids thought it was the coolest thing ever, of course. So, we created some make-shift mittens from 3 layers of socks and out they went. Why we dont have mittens, you may wonder?  Its warm here! Usually.  Of course the first thing my hyper boys did was to climb into their trampoline only to find that it was solid.

I could see all of this from my sewing room which looks out on the backyard, so I enjoyed this snow day from behind my Janome.   After a very hectic week, I finally finished the Auburn University Tote bag. I just did a wiggly stipling on the bag an front pocket like usual.  The straps I did with straight lines for stability. The wallet only needs to be assembled tomorrow and the set will be complete.

Hopefully, tomorrow I can start some Valentines day inspired quilts.  I'm thinking about doing a table topper and a mug rug or two...
Hope you are all warm and cozy.

Calling All Auburn Fans!

Now let's be honest, while I love NFL football, I am not much of a college fan. However, since we are currently stationed in Georgia, which happens to be right in the "football belt"  we are finding that football talk is dominating our world. {some call it the bible belt, but really, have you experienced how serious these southerners are about their football?

Which leads me to my call for Auburn fans!  I found some vibrant Auburn University fabric and had to grab it.  I'm cutting and quilting and assembling a tote bag with matching wallet as we speak. I'm loving the colors today, I must say.

New Fabric Needing Inspiration

When you have a new uncut, fresh stack of fabric, are you instantly inspired?   Do you come up with a plan right away?   Is it intimidating?

For me, new fabrics are a mixture of intimidating and so inspiring.  I always secretly panic about cutting into a new fabric...it's just so lovely!   It's usually much easier when I know exactly what I will be using it for from the start.

My Grandmother sent me a box full of fabrics yesterday, and I doubt anything can beat that.  I need to begin planning what to use them for, now!  Otherwise they may end up on my shelf, with me never willing to chop them up.

A Modern Baby Quilt, Perhaps?

Hope you are all feeling inspired today!

Quilty-Something-Or-Other

It's true.  Everything can, in some way need a quilty-something-or other...

I went to yoga a few weeks ago and was instantly addicted, but my yoga mat was screaming for a carrier.  Like any good passionate quilter...I started right away making a yoga mat bag.   Then I made one for all my yoga friends.   I only quilted the straps, though I'm sure there will be other ways to add some quilting in future bags.

Feel the Zen?  It certainly feels nicer walking to class with my mat in a nice bag. Namaste.

Officially Open on Etsy....Yikes!

I've gone and done it!  I'm open on Etsy.    Quilted Tote Bags, Wallets, and nervous energy!     I thought my opening day would mean a little rest and playtime with the kiddos, but I'm finding all my nervous energy is directing me right back to my sewing room.   I don't have enough variety in colors!! There's only one baby quilt!  PANIC!    haha

It could be the double-espresso latte talking....

Here's my soon-to-be work in progress fabric...

Disappearing Act.

Well, How does someone return gracefully from a disappearing act of several months?

I've missed the blogging world!  Summer was a craze of sunshine and reading and somehow in the middle, I lost my connection to the quilt-y world.  I have been sewing nonstop again for a few months but couldn't decide how to enter this atmosphere again.  Barging in like my absence never happened, or with a little accountability. :p

Glad to be back now that sewing is once again dominating my life!  This community is always a source of major inspiration.  Hope you are all doing well!!

This is what I have been working on. Wallets. Wallets. and more Wallets.
